A Cup of Kung Fu Tea Warms Travelers Far from Home: An American Couple’s "Unexpected Encounter" at Puning High-Speed Railway Station

As their Chaoshan journey drew to a close and they prepared to return to the United States, our American friends Anthony and Tracy were able to enter Puning High-Speed Railway Station smoothly through a special passage arranged by the station’s police substation, thanks to the warm coordination of Director Gan from the Puning Foreign Affairs Office.

No sooner had they stepped into the substation than the officer on duty warmly brewed a pot of authentic Chaozhou Kung Fu tea, inviting everyone to sit down, sip tea, and chat. Amid the rising aroma of the tea, there was no sense of distance—only sincerity and warmth.

This is the most everyday, most natural way for Chaoshan people to treat their guests:

To welcome friends with tea, to treat them with ritual propriety.

"Is it not a pleasure to have friends come from afar?"

In this cup of Kung Fu tea, that sentiment was brought to life in its entirety.
